Welcome To The City Of Rochelle

Mayor OlsonOn behalf of the City Council and as Mayor of Rochelle, I appreciate your interest in our community.

Established in 1853, the City of Rochelle has grown to a population of over 9,500.  With a small town look and feel, Rochelle offers large town services and an outstanding "quality of life".

Rochelle has long been known as the "Hub City".  Major transportation arteries crisscross here.  The north/south Distribution Corridor of I-39 and the east/west Research Corridor of I-88 intersect with two state routes - Illinois 38 and 251.  The Lincoln Highway 38 stretches from California to New York State.   The junction of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe with the Union Pacific Railroad provides an excellent opportunity to access two western transcontinental railroads.  The City Industrial Rail provides dual access to both mainlines.  The UP Global III Intermodal Transportation Facility provides fast, efficient and low cost shipping.  The Rochelle transportation system can serve over 80 million people in 15 different states, including Canada, in less than 24 hours.  Looking to the future with the Northern Illinois Technology Triangle (NITT) Project, Rochelle is becoming a transportation hub for high speed broadband fiber.

You will find that Rochelle is a caring and progressive community that works together to meet challenges and solve problems.  The new City seal and high-tech logo reflect the cutting-edge nature of our services.  Our parks, schools, industries, city-owned utilities, and retail businesses contribute to the modern spirit of the community and have much to offer both long-time residents and future citizens.Welcome Sign

Tourist attractions include the Lincoln Highway and Rail Fan Park.  The viewing platform at the "diamond" intersection of the mainline railroads attracts thousands of visitors from around the world.  Annual celebrations like Memorial Day, 4th of July, Heritage Festival, Rail Road Days, Farmers Market, and the Hispanic Festival are opportunities for community involvement, fellowship, entertainment, and fun.

I believe you would enjoy the quality of life Rochelle has to offer.  I welcome you to visit our community and enjoy the hospitality found only in the progressive City of Rochelle.

Very truly yours,

Chet Olson
Mayor of Rochelle
